Cabana at sunset

The garden deck at sunset, with a cabana to yourselves

Where the lawn ends and the sand begins, a cabana on the garden deck for the last three hours of light: cane chairs, a low table, cold coconut water and kokum, the kitchen’s small plates, and the sun going down into the Arabian Sea in front of you.

How it works

How it works

01

Pick the evening

Any evening of your stay, or an evening on its own if you are not staying. We suggest by the month — the sun sets between six and seven.

02

We set the cabana

Cane chairs and cushions on the deck above the sand, lanterns for after, a tray of cold drinks and small plates from the kitchen, and nobody else on that stretch of lawn.

03

Then the light goes

An hour on the deck, a walk down to the sand through the gate, and dinner afterwards if you’d like — at the long table, or a table for two under the banyan.

What's included

What it includes

The cabana

A corner of the garden deck above Candolim beach, set for the two of you or for a small group.

Drinks

Fresh coconut water, kokum and lime, iced teas, masala chai as the air cools.

Small plates

From the restaurant — Goan snacks, fruit, whatever the kitchen has that afternoon.

The beach

Two gates from the lawn straight onto the sand, for the walk after.

Afterwards

Dinner at the long table or a table for two; the beach shack for sound healing some evenings.

Where

The lawn ends, the sand begins

The garden deck is the strip of lawn where the resort stops and Candolim beach starts: a low wall, cane chairs and umbrellas, and the whole of the sea in front of you. It faces due west, so the sun sets into the water every evening of the season; in October and March the sky goes pink before it goes dark.

Most evenings the deck is shared by everyone staying. A cabana reserves a corner of it — chairs, cushions, a table and the tray — for the last three hours of light.

Good to know

Questions people ask

Do we need to be staying at the resort?

No. A cabana can be booked for an evening on its own; the gate is on Escrivao Vaddo, a few minutes from Candolim’s main road.

What time does it start?

About three hours before sunset, which is between six and seven depending on the month. Tell us the date and we set the time.

Is there a bar?

No — the resort has no bar. The tray is coconut water, kokum, lime, iced tea and chai, with small plates from the kitchen.

Can we go down to the beach?

Yes — two gates from the lawn straight onto the sand. The beach is public, and quiet at that hour.

Is there a price?

Yes, for the cabana and the tray. A planner sends it with the plan for your evening. Every experience needs at least 48 hours’ notice.
